Message Writing
- A message is a short piece of information that
you convey to someone when you cannot communicate with them directly.
- Modern social media platforms such as SMS (Short
Message Service), WhatsApp, Telegram, and Facebook are commonly used
for writing and sending messages.
- Through the internet, one can send not only text
messages but also audio, video, and animations.
Format
of a Message
- Heading:
- Begin by writing the word MESSAGE in bold or in
capital letters.
- It is written in the center of the line to draw the
attention of the intended recipient.
- Date:
- The date is written on the left-hand side of
the page.
- It should be written in expanded form (for
example, 25 October 2025).
- Time:
- Time can be written on either side, but it is usually
placed on the right-hand side of the page.
- Salutation:
- Used to address the receiver politely (e.g., Dear
Mohan, or Hi Riya,).
- Body:
- This is the main content of the message where
you include the information you wish to convey.
- Keep it short, clear, and precise, using short
sentences.
- Sender’s Name:
- Write your name on the left-hand side after
completing the message.

Points for Writing a Message
- Keep the message brief and to the point.
- Include the name of the person for whom the
message is written.
- The word limit should not exceed 50 words.
- The sender’s or receiver’s full address is not
necessary—only a short salutation is required.
- Mention the date and time clearly.
- Write only important information without adding
personal opinions.
- Use language suitable to the tone—formal or informal
as required.
- Add the sender’s name or signature at the end.
- Use numbers, punctuation marks, and abbreviations
where appropriate.
- Complete sentences are not always necessary—short
forms and symbols may be used.
- Choose verb tenses (past, present, or future)
according to the context.
- Avoid excessive use of emojis or GIFs.
- Don’t expect the receiver to reply immediately.
- Avoid sending spam or unnecessary messages.
- Respond promptly to messages you receive.
