Message
A message is a piece of information, a piece of news, a request, etc., sent to somebody in writing, speech, by telephone, etc. Telephone is the quickest means of sending a message sometimes it so happens that a message is received on telephone, but the person for whom the message is meant is not at hand. So someone else has to receive it. And if he himself has to go out, he has to leave in writing the message for the person for whom it is meant. The SMS is a message consisting of a fixed number of characters that can be sent from one mobile phone to another. An SMS consist of text, video or contact files. Internet messaging platform also allow you to send messages when connected to an interne service. These messages allow you to send text, audio, video animations, files and other pieces of data. These types of message are popular because they are delivered instantly and allow for a mo fluid kind of communication not found in letters or emails.
The following points should be kept in mind while writing a message:
Ø Address need not be given in a written message.
Salutation should be very brief (e.g. Dear Uncle).
Ø Date and time of penning down the message should be given.
Ø Clearly mention the name of the person from whom the message was received. 5. Only important points should be written.
Ø The language used should be very clear and accurate.
Ø Nothing should be added of your own.
Ø The message should always be written in reported speech.
Ø Put your name, signature at the end of the message.
Ø Word limit should be strictly followed.
Ø Message should be brief and to the point.
Ø Language used should be simple, lucid and easy to understand.
Ø No room should be left for confusion or misinterpretation.
Ø Abbreviations should be used as far as possible.
Ø Brevity of the message should not be at the cost of clarity.
Ø Feedback should be obtained from the other side. If no feedback is forthcoming, it should be understood that the other side is not interested in the message.
Ø Builders, tutors, developers, manufacturers of goods often use messages to get customers for their services.
Ø The message is very popular among youngsters. They exchange messages for various purposes.
Ø Abbreviations for message: Some important abbreviations for use in e-mail are given below. 2 -To/too/two, 2dA-today, 2moro- tomorrow, 2nite-tonight, AFAIK- As far as I know, ASAP- As soon as possible, ATM - At the moment, before- B4 etc.
