Introduction of Communication
Ø Communication has been in existence
since the man came upon the earth.
Ø Man communicates thoughts, ideas and
emotions to others are important to contract and convey his plans.
Ø Good communication should be conveyed in
a lucid, simple, and precise without any miscommunication or misunderstanding.
Ø Man communicates his thoughts and
feelings to others with the help of verbal and non-verbal symbols.
Ø Language is the most vital element in
the process of communication.
Ø Communication includes transfer or
sharing of knowledge, important ideas and attitudes.
Ø Communication is an exchange of meaningful
information in an effective way.
Ø Components of communication: Sender,
Receiver, Message, Context, Channel, Culture and social/business space and
Feedback or impact.
Ø Communication is considered a two-way
process. There should be two or more than two persons in communication i.e. the
sender and the receiver.
Ø Communication should be purposeful. It
includes common and shared knowledge. It is goal oriented and should have a
predetermined objective.
Ø In case of communication mutual code
between the sender and the receiver is must.
Ø The receiver should provide feedback regarding
the message received.

Communication
Communication
is taken from the Latin word 'Communis' or 'communicate’ or ‘communico’. These
three words mean to share. Hence, communication means the shearing of ideas,
opinions, concepts, emotions or feelings. The science of communication is as
old as mankind itself. It is very easy to understand and describe the concept
of communication. But it is very difficult to define the term itself. Here are
some definitions of the term 'communication'.
Ø According to Leagans (1961), Communication is the process by
which two or more people exchange ideas, facts, feelings or impressions in ways
that each gains a common understanding of the meaning, intent and use of
messages.
Ø “the
process or act of exchanging, expressing or conveying information and ideas
through writing, speaking and gesturing”. (Merriam-Webster
Dictionary)
Ø "Communication is a process of
exchanging ideas, thoughts, information, knowledge etc. between sender and receiver
through accepted codes."
Ø "Communication is the activity or
process of expressing ideas and feelings or of giving people information."
